The Cabinet Division also provided 94 tonnes of foodstuff. A substantial portion of this foodstuff is still available with the district co-ordination officer (DCO), Chitral. Besides, two helicopters of emergency relief cell were sent to the NWFP on February 13, for aerial survey and relief/rescue operations. These helicopters carried the Minister of State for Water and Power and Minster of Petroleum for aerial view and visiting Swat, Abbottabad and other areas along with some supplies, the statement added.
One truckload of tents, blankets, medicines and utensil sets had been sent to Relief Commissioner, NWFP on February 14.
According to the Cabinet Division, the flash floods and snowfall have caused 54 deaths in Balochistan, 260 in NWFP and 58 in AJK. Similarly, in Balochistan two, NWFP 208 and AJK 15 people have been injured due to rain and snowfall, respectively.
In NWFP, Behrain-Kalam road, Khawaza Khela road, Mansehra-Kohistan road and Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road from Paras to Naran have been blocked.
In Balochistan due to heavy snowfall and rains in Pishin district, the road and communication links with Tehsil Barshore have also been blocked.
The two truckloads of blankets, sleeping bags and foodstuff were also dispatched to Relief Commissioner, NWFP on February 15, the statement said.
Pakistan Red Crescent Society had dispatched relief goods to NWFP and AJK on February 14, in co-ordination with the Cabinet Division.
The Utility Stores Corporation has started delivering 1,000 packets (30 kg each) of essential food commodities in all the affected districts of the NWFP.
Two Army helicopters have been detailed for relief and rescue operations in Swat and Mansehra.
The National Highways Authority, Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and C&W Department have been asked to clear the snow-bound roads.
The Cabinet division said that the Ministry of Health has been asked to provide medical supplies in the affected districts/areas through the lady health workers' programme, which is already extended to rural areas.
Pakistan Army is taking active part in the relief and rescue operations, it added.
The Cabinet Division highlighting the relief measures for Balochistan, said that relief goods comprising tents, blankets, water purification tablets and anti-snake venom vaccinations were flown to Gwadar and Pasni by two C-130 aircraft on February 12.
The two C-130 aircraft were provided to the government of Balochsitan/ Headquarters 12 corps, for transportation of emergency medicines and ration from Quetta to Gwadar and Pasni.
One C-130 aircraft has been arranged to carry the relief goods to be provided by the Senate through Leader of the House in the Senate, Wasim Sajjad to Balochistan, which has already left on Wednesday for the province.
The Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, F C and Coast Guards are effectively carrying out the relief and rescue operations. The helicopters of Army, Navy and Ministry of Interior are available in the affected areas for relief and rescue operations.
About relief measures in rain and snow affected areas of AJK, the Cabinet Division said that Pak Army and government of AJK are fully involved in the relief work.
The Prime Minister has already announced compensation package for the victim families.
About the relief assistance by donors, the Cabinet Division said that the UNDP has been mobilised to provide relief assistance to the affected areas.
The Chinese Ambassador handed over a cheque of $100,000 to the Cabinet Secretary for the affected people on January 15, which has been deposited in the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund.
The UAE has announced cash assistance of $2 million and Switzerland has offered assistance for repair of Shadi Khor Dam in Balochistan. Saudi Embassy is also providing relief goods shortly, it concluded.
